About Kensington

Now this is a story of fate!

In 2001, Kensington Studios opened its doors to provide a full-service media arts and art gallery in the Bahamas by Nicole Angelica, internationally acclaimed artist.  Kensington Studios was known for its amazing photography and artistry.  Nicole Angelica's work has been acquired by dignitaries and celebrities.

In 2007, Empowering Urban Minds, Inc. a nonprofit organization was founded by Dr. Royond P. Hendrix.  This organization provided programs and services to support social and emotional learning to students as well as teacher development.

As the universe would have it, Nicole Angelica moved to Texas and met Dr. Hendrix at an education conference.  After a discussion about the need for teacher support, school development and their passion for the Arts, these ladies began to merge their interests for the Arts and Education.  Initially, a school concept was explored but an organization to support schools and communities was developed in 2015.

Kensington has partnered with numerous school districts and cultural organizations to provide programs to promote social and emotional wellness through the Arts throughout the US and the Bahamas.

In January 2021, Kensington launched its Urban Arts for Wellness program, an initiative that provides arts experiences to hospitalized and terminally ill youth.   This program addresses developmental and educational needs through the visual arts, media arts, literary arts and music.

Kensington strives to support communities and organizations by promoting Social Emotional Wellness and Personal/Professional Development through the Arts as well as educational programs and services.
